A successful lawyer. A ten-year-old boy, sick and carrying a secret he cannot keep. The boy needs help: “I killed a man with an axe. Fifteen years ago.” And he claims to have evidence. Evidence that consists of bodies. How does he know where they are buried?

Lawyer Robert Stern, following the boy’s directions, will uncover the bodies and find himself unwillingly drawn into a police investigation. How can he prove that he has nothing to do with the crimes?

Meanwhile, a mysterious stranger contacts him, threatening him with death if he goes to the police, claiming to have information about the whereabouts of his son, who died ten years ago…
