Meteora 2009
For the past two decades, the perception has spread that the profession of journalism is sinking into a bottomless pit: an excessive pursuit of easy money, a rapid loss of all forms of ethics, a near-total absence of self-criticism, flirting with public authorities through press offices, confusing debate with barroom brawls, a tendency toward insults or cheap scandals under the guise of attracting an audience, oversimplification of news coverage due to ignorance or negligence in newsrooms, turning trivialities into sensational headlines, and so on.
The rise of online media has theoretically increased the democratization of information, but it has also led to a surge in junk news, false insider reports, and blatant copies of what others have written.
