Gracia San Sebastián makes her debut as a police collaborator when she is assigned to investigate InverOriental, an international real estate investment company, for an alleged pyramid scheme. The case becomes a media sensation when the arm of the company’s CFO—also the main suspect in the fraud—turns up dismembered and hidden inside the sea wall of San Lorenzo Beach in Gijón.
A few days later, his mutilated body, bearing apparent signs of torture, is discovered. The corpse had been dressed postmortem and carefully laid inside the boat of well-known entrepreneurs from Gijón, the parents of Arantza Brione, a teenager who had died months earlier in a hit-and-run accident for which the police never found the culprit.
Gracia must untangle a complex web of money laundering serving Romanian mafias. At the same time, she is trying to rebuild her personal life, but her new relationship begins to falter when her ex-husband returns from New York to settle the ownership of their company.
