Justicia

Grijalbo, 2021

A wave of crimes is staining the streets of Bilbao with blood in the name of JUSTICE.

Antonio Arzamendi, a retired bank branch manager, wakes to the news of the murder of Rosa, the love of his life and his colleague, with whom he had planned a peaceful retirement in Choroní, his personal Caribbean paradise.

The police speak of a robbery gone violent, but the sole witness—a retired Cuban soldier who arrived in the city seeking answers about his son’s murder—insists he saw something resembling an execution. Driven by Arzamendi’s determination to uncover the truth, the witness, Osmany Arechabala, decides to help him.

On the very night of Rosa’s death, the body of a man is found next to a bench where someone has written the word “Justice.” Two days later, the murder of the daughter of a wealthy construction tycoon in the old port of Algorta sets the authorities on alert. Through a sensationalist news portal, a theory begins to spread: that a secret organization is targeting businessmen and bankers.

Osmany, Arzamendi, and Borja Maruri—a fraud investigator hired by one of the victim’s families—must uncover the identity of the perpetrators and the motives behind their actions.

The truth will be unpleasant for everyone.
