A story of friendship that portrays the lives of a group of middle-class young people in Madrid and Spain after May ’68, spanning up to the early years of the Transition. A novel with a distinctly autobiographical tone, it reflects both their youthful hopes and the loss of them as they come of age in a society living through the final years of a dictatorship, still marked by repression against leftist groups fighting for freedom.
The narrator discovers his passion for the world of cinema, a path furthered by his stay in Rome, which opens the doors to that field. The book revisits Italy of those years, a place of refuge shaped by ongoing social tension.
