Los ojos con mucha noche

ALGAIDA 2019

Ernesto Bocanegra is an elderly man whose alcoholism and excesses have left him confined to a wheelchair, yet that does not stop him from marrying a beautiful woman, Julia, who has a shady past and is also the lover of his sons.

Ernesto emigrated to Argentina as a young man, where he made a fortune through unclear means before returning to Spain. His eldest son, Beltrán Bocanegra, is a publisher completely infatuated with Julia, unaware that his younger brother—whom he considers a puppet under his control—is also his father’s wife’s lover.

Beltrán seeks a way to eliminate his father to take control of the family fortune and thus become master over his stepmother as well. But he begins receiving emails from someone claiming to be his brother, an unrecognized son Ernesto Bocanegra had in Argentina, who threatens to take revenge and claim everything.

Gradually, through this epistolary exchange, the “Argentine brother” reveals Ernesto Bocanegra’s life in Argentina during the military dictatorship and his involvement in it. This sparks a web of crime and greed, where betrayal is common currency, and no one is exactly who they say they are—or even who they believe themselves to be—leading to a truly shocking finale.
