Aroma de guerra y café

Ediciones B 2022

A story of passion and secrets that will change the protagonists’ lives as only war or love can.

1942, Japan. While World War II rages and Spain faces the darkest years of the Franco dictatorship, Jacinto Casares and his daughter María prepare to depart for the Empire of the Rising Sun.

Owners of a coffee plantation on the island of Java, the family has decided to accept a commission that could benefit them during these turbulent times. However, upon arriving in Japan, everything becomes complicated, and María must carry out a dangerous mission: transporting highly valuable jewels hidden among the coffee.

With strict orders to protect her at all costs, the young woman is accompanied by Colonel Juro Hokusai, with whom a forbidden and passionate love begins to blossom. Together, they embark on a journey that will take them back to the family plantation in Java, where memories of the past become the horrors of the present.
