ATENEO JOVEN DE SEVILLA AWARD 2016
At just 18 years old, Amalia is famous in her village for her sharp intelligence, prodigious musical talent, and an exaggeratedly bad temper that condemns her to live like a hermit on her father’s farm. That’s not even counting a strange and secret gift that brings her nothing but trouble: the ability to perfectly read people’s emotions.
All these frustrations and doubts about others and the technified world around her begin to make sense with the arrival of two individuals with very peculiar gazes: a young, eccentric heir to a major company in the capital, and his loyal and mysterious butler. Both will test the young woman’s sanity while drawing her into a complex multinational conflict, where fluctuating intellects like Amalia’s are considered highly valuable assets, with stakes that extend to the present and future of the planet.
“My name is Amalia del Valle. And this is our incredible and surreal story—mine and that of the most arrogant and manipulative person I have ever known.”
