Rafael Moreno Izquierdo

Madrid 1960

He is a journalist and university professor. A specialist in international journalism and a war correspondent, he is a tenured professor at the Complutense University and Academic Director of the Master’s Degree in Defense and Armed Conflict Communication, as well as a visiting professor at IE University, the War College, and other academic institutions.

He worked for over 20 years at the EFE Agency in New York and Washington D.C., as well as a special envoy and conflict correspondent in Central America, the Balkans, the Middle East, and the Persian Gulf. He now works as a freelance journalist for various media outlets, including the newspapers El País and ABC. He was awarded the Best Foreign Correspondent Prize in 2001 by the International Press Center of Madrid for his coverage of the New York Twin Towers attacks, and the 2013 Defense Award in the category of written media.

He holds a PhD in International Relations from the Complutense University, an MBA from the Instituto de Empresa, and a Master’s Degree in National Defense from Rey Juan Carlos University.

He is the author of several books, including Campúa. Viviendo entre fotos (2013), with José F. De María Campúa; Fotoperiodistas de Guerra Españoles (2010), with Alfonso Bauluz; and El Servicio Vasco de Información (1936-1943) (2009), in collaboration with Juan Carlos Jiménez de Aberásturi.
